Mothman Country is the personal odyssey of filmmaker Peter Haas to Point Pleasant, West Virginia, a city infamous among paranormal fanatics for its legend of ‘The Mothman.’ Inspired by John Keel’s The Mothman Prophecies, Haas goes monster hunting, only to collide with the reality of the locals of a town still reeling from the collapse of its industrial economy in the late 1970s.

Interviews become uncomfortably personal and revealing, and the symbiotic relationship between residents and the Mothman legend becomes a story of survival for Point Pleasant, and of simple human nature for the director.
